Checks and Plaid or Simply Blocking?

Checks and Plaid or Simply Blocking?
Screen Shot 2013-08-26 at 16.43.26     Two big trends are about to go head to head in todays post. We just can’t decided what look we love more!  Checks and Plaid were everywhere this season, from grunge to ladylike trends, it was there. Mulberry and Tommy Hilfiger styled their plaid preppy with traditional shapes and concepts. Mulberry even added a designer pooch! At Celine and Givenchy we saw a more contemporary approach with the mixture of colours and patterens. We loved the floral and plaid combos at Givenchy. Will we dare to try it?     Screen Shot 2013-08-26 at 16.31.18     Our head to head comes from a simple idea- colour blocking. Paul Smith and Jonathan Saunders both opted for the brighter side of this trend going for contrasting colour combos in blocks. We’re not sure how, but at Paul Smith, red and pink are looking great together- who would have thought? Felder Felder and Diesel Black Gold both chose a more demure look with Felder in Black And Diesel in White. We love the Monochrome trend, but choosing one shade gives a block effect going for a more daring look. We decided to simplify these trends and style them our way to help us pick which look we love more. Firstly we tackled the Check and Plaid trend using our abstract checkered print midi dress. This looks great as a day or night look, but worn with a patent bag and diamonte watch it’s the perfect dress for a more sophisticated night out. Might even be our next date outfit!     Screen Shot 2013-08-26 at 16.57.24     For spot on colour blocking, red and black are a great on trend choice. Our peplum dress gives the trend essentials whilst complimenting your figure. We love the peplum shape when we are looking for curve highlighters and tummy coverups. This gorgeous necklace brings a bit of bling to the look, complimenting the simple dress. One of our favourite shoe trends takes note from 90’s fashion with ankle straps and block heels. These heels tick all the boxes, and even tie in with the silver necklace! Screen Shot 2013-08-26 at 17.02.15   So... which trend gets your vote?   By Mhairi O’Neill @IKRUSH_Mhairi
